Master Bedroom Overhaul

Share away friends!

Oh friends, how excited I am to share my room refresh with you today!

I want to share a beautiful story. A story of a room refresh that was much needed. A room refresh that now, being complete, has me smiling every morning when I open my eyes. This is because my room went from looking like this:

To this:

And from this:

To this:

See? You’d be smiling too right? After a master bedroom transformation like that!

Do I have your attention yet?

Here’s the deal, my room was a little miss-matched, with a little clutter here and there. An old bed-set that my husband had back in college. Dressers over 15 years old. Not a thing on the walls. Are you cringing yet? Yes, we were indeed in need of a room refresh.

But you know what? With life, and babies, and work, plus trying hard to make the entertaining areas of our home presentable, well, the bedroom just wasn’t a priority. But oh my how it should have been! I didn’t know what I was missing!

Sit up and take note friend: My favorite store, The Home Depot, now has a full line of home decor! Not only can you change up the bones of your home with wood and drywall and saws, you can now decorate and create a warm and inviting space with their pillows and furniture and paintings and so much decor! The best part about all this? The pricing makes it accessible for everyone!

Doesn’t it look like my room grew up? Goodbye awkward teenage stage, hello adulthood!

Could The Home Depot deliver on style?

When The Home Depot contacted me about refreshing our master bedroom, my first thought was, “But do they truly have what I’d want to refresh my room with?” I was excited, but also a little nervous. That lasted for about five minutes after I went to their site and saw how much variety they had! All of the products I viewed were available exclusively online from The Home Depot, this including their Home Decorators Collection!

And friends, they know what’s happening in the home decor space. They get farmhouse, and modern, and traditional. They get us! Isn’t that exciting? And look at that mirror? The absolute minute I saw it on their site it was instant love. This brushed gold Shanira mirror by Safavieh is beyond dreamy and perfect in a bedroom. In my bedroom! 😉

What style to go with?

I was truly on the fence about how to style our master. Should I go popular farmhouse which is clean and bright and very on trend? Plus, it’s what most of my house is decorated as anyhow. The more I thought about it though, deep down inside, I always wanted a glam bedroom. For years and years I dreamed of lots of glass, a rich deep colored wall, gold accents, and a dark, romantic, wingback bed.

So I went with it and love very much how it turned out! I didn’t want the room too moody, so for the night stands and dresser I opted for a crisp white. The diamond detail in the Newford dresser and nightstands by the Home Decorators Collection were the perfect combo to give my room more visual appeal than a plain, standard dresser and nightstands. It’s all in the details friends!

Remember where I mentioned I love lots of glass? Let’s face it, in a house with two dogs, four cats, and two children, well . . . glass just doesn’t fly in most places. But in the master bedroom, which is “mom’s room” as the kids call it, (sorry dad 😉 ) I can get away with glass safely.

Look at that glass Bevanton Gold Metal Vanity Set by StyleWell! I mean, come on? Dreams do come true. Isn’t is just romantic with a bit of edge? I swoon each time I walk by.

And now friends, now I also have things hanging on my walls! I wonder why it took me so long?

This stunning Oliver Gal Artist Co. “Very Golden” by Oliver Gal Canvas fit perfectly over the large dresser. The small touches of gold add so much contrast and depth!

Big things matter, but so do details

Truly the big things like the Highfield Wingback bed by StyleWell are epic, with its buttons and studs and rich bold color . . .

But it’s also the smaller touches, the beautiful Apothecary Clear Glass Table Lamp by Kenroy Home that screams elegance, and the Gray Ceramic Vase By Three Hands that is the perfect level-up accessory!

Those color combos! It’s love!

And what do you think of the Ivory Upholstered metal vanity stools from the Home Decorators Collection I used at the end of the bed? The brushed gold and off white seats tie everything in so well.

Are you wondering how many photos I can fit an animal into? Trust me, my skill are solid. 😉

And want a quick tip on how to make your bed look ultra plush and romantic? Go up a size in your duvet cover! We have a queen bed but I always get a king Duvet and cover so that it completely envelopes the sides of the bed. It’s such a plush look. We got the 500 Thread Count Egyptian Cotten Sateen 3 piece kin duvet cover set in white by the Home Decorators Collection.

I also used this Black Marble fruit bowl by Creative Home as a jewelry holder for my most used items. Doesn’t it fit perfectly? The marbling of black, gray and white is so classy!

Since I was at it, I also added in a few towels for our master bath and the softest Shadow Grey rug from the Home Decorators Collection. You just want to take your toes and dig into the fluffy, thick fibers!

And aren’t new towels simply the best? It’s like wrapping yourself in a big cloud. These Turkish Cotton Ultra Soft Bath Towels from The Home Decorators Collection are just like that!

What I truly appreciate about these is they didn’t shrink at all when washed. It was such a relief! I’ve purchased what I thought were good towels before only to have them go through the dryer once and all the sudden they shrink in the oddest places and come out rough. No good friends!

These from The Home Decorators Collection came out even more cozy and fluffy after a good spin through the washer and dryer.

Overall friends, I walk in my master bedroom and I’m proud. It looks like a loved room, and ultimately, that’s my goal for each room of my home. To feel loved and lived in. To be calm, welcoming, and warm. Thanks to The Home Depot, I can cross our master bedroom off my list of rooms to makeover! Now on to the next!

Do you love your master bedroom or is it time for a change? What style would you go with?
