Scary Good Chocolate Cookies
Who wants a scary simple recipe for Halloween? We have enough going on, let’s keep things easy, but not compromise on flavor! These dense, thick chocolate cookies are the perfect treat to whip up and satisfy that chocolate craving anytime, even outside of Halloween.

This post is in partnership with NOW® Foods, but as always, all opinions are my own. For my full disclosure statement, see here.
Using good ingredients
In our home, we love a good dessert, I was a wedding cake maker for several years after all. But in all things, we try to use the best, quality ingredients not only for taste, but for health. So many things, like cocoa powder, have amazing health benefits in their organic, true form. So we use ingredients with, well, less ingredients. Items in their truest form, allowing us to enjoy our food with intention.
NOW® Foods has us covered with their delicious, organic cocoa powder. I’ve been using NOW® Foods products for as long as I can remember, because I trust their standards in quality. I’ve been to their facilities and have been able to see first hand how important high standards are to them.
Okay, let’s get to it and make these fun, festive cookies!
Scary Good Chocolate Cookies
What you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup room temp butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup NOW Foods cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- Peanut Butter, butterscotch, and white chocolate chips.

Chocolate or bust
Who else is all about the chocolate desserts? I won’t ever turn my nose up at a fruit dessert, because they’re a close second for me. But when I have a craving for sweets, its usually chocolate related. I’ve never been much of a candy or just sugar person. It’s all about the cocoa flavor for me.

How to make
Cream together butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla and mix again. Slowly incorporate all other ingredients until pulls away from side of mixer.
Roll cookies into 1″ balls and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Press the candy chips into the top of the cookies. Bake at 350 for 9 minutes. Tap on counter when done to deflate. Once cool, drizzle some with white chocolate if wanted!
