A Two-tti Fruity Birthday Party
This past Saturday we had so much fun celebrating Evelyn turning two! Two-tti fruity two that is. 😉
Finding a theme
I struggled up until the week before her party with a theme. Thank goodness for Pinterest because I typed in two year old birthday and up popped Two-tti fruity! I was sold immediately. A July birthday is the perfect time for a fruit themed party! Evelyn’s first birthday was Strawberry Shortcake so I was able to take a lot of that party decor and repurpose it! Score for saving money and reusing things.
The only hard part with the last minute theme was I struggled to find any fruit related decor, which surprised me! Most of the stores already clearanced out their summer stuff and had fall decorations up.

Thankfully I was able to score a few clearance items at killer deals, and pineapples are very much in style lately so they were easy to round up.
Overall I grabbed a few staple pieces of fruit decor and kept with the same color scheme for everything else so it flowed together.
The napkins were a great tie-in, I found these on Amazon and you can grab them here. The straws were left over from Evelyn’s last party, (they came with a lot) and were the perfect colors. Also on Amazon here.
We had been borrowing my parents punch dispenser for every big party we host since they run a wedding venue and have all that fun stuff, but when I saw this glass punch dispenser with a chalk sign (sucker for all things chalk) on sale for $9.99 I knew I had to snag it! With how many parties we throw it’s a great item to always have on hand!
We barbequed for the adults but I’m always trying to think of fun foods for the kids besides the traditional hot dogs at most events. Last year we did mac n cheese which was a hit with everyone. This year I decided to do a sandwhich table with three different varieties. Who doesn’t like a traditional PB&J right? The oddest combo might have been the honey and jam sandwich, but that’s Evelyn’s favorite so it had to get a starring roll.
Love all my cake platters? I’ve been collecting them ever since I started making cakes for weddings and events over 12 years ago now. And speaking of cakes, usually I’m doing so much party prep that my kids don’t get the cool cakes I make for others, but when I saw this two tiered watermelon and pineapple cake on Pinterest I knew I had to give it a go!
I loved making this cake so much! I stuck with the fruit theme and did lemon cake with lemon curd filling. Yum is all I have to say about that! I ate way too much the day after the party. . .
Along with the cake obviously we had to have tons of fruit. that’s another reason while I loved this theme, most of it was edible!
We ate outside but kept the food indoors because of the heat. Over the next few hours I think we all went in for fruit refills multiple times! Plus I was in heaven with leftovers!

Enough about the decor though, let’s talk about the birthday girl a bit!
(Evelyn getting snuggled by her Great Grandma Judy)
This little thing had so much fun.
And let’s talk her dress for a quick second, isn’t it adorable? I loved the ice cream print! The colors went with her party perfectly. Trisha over at DotDotSmile has the most adorable girl dresses. It was a tie between this one and a donut dress she also sent (photos of that later!) but the ice cream went with the fruit theme better so we settled on that one. Make sure to check Trisha out in her Facebook group to snag your your own sweet little girl dresses.
Evelyn was in heaven with the gifts! Our friends and family knew exactly what she wanted! The excitement on toddlers faces when they realize the big ol stash of bags and boxes are all for them is priceless.
And the gift from Travis and I was also a hit, but we knew it would be. When at our friends place a few weekends ago they had a little playhouse, and Evelyn would not. get. out. She literally played in there for hours. Leaving that night we knew what her gift would be, and her reaction didn’t disappoint! After a little back and forth we finally went with the Step2 Neat and Tidy II Playhouse.
She walked over to it in awe, went in, and hardly came out the rest of the party! We eventually kicked all the bigger boys out and sent them to play in the pool and slip & slide, and let Evelyn and her two little girl friends take over the house. They were in heaven.
I even brought the cake over to her while we sang because she wouldn’t come out!
Overall the party was a huge success, not just because of the decorations or theme, but because we have amazing family and friends that made it a point to come celebrate with us, and that means everything! Truly, I felt so blessed that night as we were cleaning up. What’s life without amazing people right? And I can truly say I know many!
Happy birthday little Evelyn Inez. We love you so much sweet girl.
