First off, What is Ellie?
Here is an excerpt taken from their website:
Ellie is a monthly subscription service that sends you 5 amazing items for your active lifestyle. Generally, each box contains a bra, a top, leggings or capris and an accessory and a piece of equipment. That being said, we might substitute the accessory with another top, or the piece of equipment with a bag, but you’ll always get the three initial items.
Each month on the first we announce the new box with a new video and new images so you know what to expect from that month. If you don’t like it, skip it, you’ll get an email 3 days before your box ships where you can review the new month and can skip with a click of a button.
Every month we curate our box to match nicely with a color story or theme, for example, we had a yoga inspired box and a lounge box and a get active box, so we always try to make it match.
Of course we all know of other athletic subscription boxes, but when a friend told me about Ellie I had to look them up because I’d never heard of them before. Once I visited their instagram feed I was immediately intrigued. They had cute stuff!
So, when Ellie offered to send me a box I was onboard! Who doesn’t constantly need more workout apparel?
Let’s dig in!
I received a top, sports bra, capris, a hat, and a runner’s belt. Obviously this box was themed for runners/walker, which was great since that’s right up my alley! It was also a blue theme, which I loved!
Everything was super cute, so really all I was concerned about was how they held up. I’m curvy, so oftentimes pants slip down or ride up, shirts slowly rise upwards and settle on my waist. And bras . . . well bras I’m very particular about. I usually hate racerbacks. I find them very uncomfortable on my shoulders most times.
But in all honestly after wearing it all for two weeks I’ve gotta say I’m very impressed.
Let’s start with the pants.
I tried another subscription box a while back and while the pants were high quality they were very thick. I felt constricted in them and got hot easily. These capris are the perfect combo of thickness and stretch. Easy to pull on and they stayed put during all my runs. Which is huge! I’ve turned around before after only a mile or two in other pants because I was seriously having to pull them up constantly and that brings out the rage in Eryn. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves!
Plus the detail on the bottom is a nice touch. Love how fashion and function truly meet with this pair. P.S. I found out they also send shorts and was so relieved that I got capris instead. I’m still not a shorts fan when running, they always hike up on my thicker thighs. #honesttruth
Next up is the bra.
Out of everything it was my favorite, which surprised me since it’s technically a racerback. I don’t know if it was the multiple straps or that they weren’t super thick, but whatever the reason it didn’t hurt my shoulders at all and held very well.
It was super comfortable and easier than I thought to get on. I only got stuck in it the first try, and then figured out how all the straps go. :p
A little side note to the above picture. I wasn’t going to post it because, hello, no belly button. But then I realized, you know what, THIS IS ME! Right now, this moment, today. This is how I look. And I’ve worked hard to get to this point. Sure my belly button disappears when I lean forward, and maybe it always will. A few months ago I wouldn’t have been okay with that and would have hated myself and this photo. But I look at this picture now and see a mama of two sweet babies, a wife, a fitness and food lover, and I’m okay with all of that! And that’s big for me! I’m working on accepting myself and loving the journey this year, and I’m genuinely happy in this photo.
Next up the shirt.
Okay so I’ve gotta get this out of the way, I think I ordered a size too big. It was a little loose around the top, but it didn’t bother me a ton. Besides all the cute details on the front and back the length was my favorite part. I have a long torso and it was nice that the shirt made it over my booty.
When a shirt crosses that point it’s always a good day in my books!
Just for reference I ordered a large in everything but like I mentioned, wished I had grabbed the shirt in a medium. For bra size I’m usually a 36 large B/small C, and the large bra fit great!
The hat was super fun and I can see myself wearing it on a lot of sunny summer runs. As for the belt it’s a winner too, but I will tell the truth as to why there are no photos of it: Evelyn lost it! I was taking photos yesterday and little girl loves to open and close the strap on the belt, so off she went with it to who knows where, her secret lair where she hides her treasures, and I couldn’t find it. I tried again today and gave up. Kid you not, while I was writing this post she brought it up to me with the most innocent eyes like, “What mommy? You wanted this?” And I’m too lazy at this point to get the camera out again . . .
