Back To School With Now Foods – The Best Of
Oh friends, back to school is looking a bit different this year. However, quality food and supplements are still very important. maybe even more so than in years past. For this reason I wanted to share my favorite back to school products and why I love using them to help keep my kids healthy and happy!
We have a solid back to school routine at this point. As the summer draws on I find myself becoming more and more lax with food and taking our standard supplements. The sunshine is calling and all the play leaves me forgetting about what normally comes second nature to us. One of the reasons I love fall so much is the sense of balance, schedule, and normalcy it brings after what’s been an amazing but crazy summer.
Our supplement Routine
I’ve written several posts on my kids health tips in the past. Gut health is always a central point to those posts, as I feel the gut is one of the biggest components to overall health and wellness. Sadly, it’s also one of the most overlooked area of health.
Last September I wrote a very in-depth post all about our plan for fall and winter health, including the supplements we take daily. You can find that important post here:
Kids Health Back To School Edition
No sense in writing another in depth post since our daily supplements look almost identical to last year. The only other product we’ve added is the Liquid Vitamin D-3 that I give to the kids each morning. Four drops provide 400 IU and are completely tasteless. I just have the kids open their mouths and count out four drops. Easy peasy!
Fall snacking
Normally this is a busy time of year. Lots of school drop offs, after school programs, sports, music, and more. That means a lot of driving around and on-the-go snacking. While this year may mean less time in the car because of a lot of canceled activities, I’ve still notice my kids appetites raging as they are constantly asking, “Mom, can I have a snack?”
Even if we’re home more, these snacks I wrote about being our go-to last August still hold true:
Healthy Snacks for Kids & Moms on the go
Keeping a bag of Whole Wheat Sesame Sticks in the car or beside your homeschool desk is a great idea if your kids (or yourself) need something crunchy and satisfying to help hold them over until their next meal. They are addicting. Be warned. NOW® has so many healthy and satisfying snack options. Evelyn can’t live without their Mango Slices. I always have them on hand around the house for quick pick-me-ups.
Hydration
I know we’d all love to just consume pumpkin spice lattes until the end of the year. Heck, my kids would also be on board with that. Sadly though, our bodies are begging for a little more quality drinking. Sure, pumpkin spice in moderation, but I also have some great tips to keep up your hydration, and also your energy for the months ahead.
I also constantly have the kids water bottles filled and ready on the kitchen table 24/7. This means less cups being used and discarded in the sink, filled with one time used glasses, and since it’s right out in front of them they are way more likely to take sips throughout the day as they go about their business of playing and mess making. 😉
I also have a great organic Hot Cocoa mix for you to try on your next family movie night. Hydrating, eh, but it doesn’t have the corn syrup that the mixes in the stores contain. I’ll take that for a win!
It all adds up
Quality food, supplements, and hydration add up to a happy, better performing body. When you treat it well, a body rewards you with more stamina and energy. With everything going on in 2020 and the helpless feeling that can bring with it, knowing you have the power to fuel your body well and have your home be a place of health and love are huge in the mental health department! And in the coming months I think that’s going to be more important than ever.
Cheers to healthy kids, and a healthy family!
