Over my life I’ve tried about every kind of eating plan out there. Really, I have. And most of them aren’t sustainable long term, cost a lot of money, or are super restrictive. I’ve done “lifestyle eating plans” where I was purchasing specialty bags of flour substitutes that cost $20 and contained about a pound of product. And then you had the sugar substitutes, and on and on. Ugh. I became super stressed eating that way. Sure maybe it’s healthy. Maybe. But who can afford to spend $20+ to make a kinda yummy little dessert that no one else in your house will eat? Yeah . . . that didn’t work for me.
Why I Do Paleo
What I love about paleo is it makes me feel good, and I eat real food. If you feel good eating the way you choose to eat I’m not going to try and convert you to paleo. I’m not eating it because morally I think it’s right, because I believe it’s the only true way to eat, or any other load of crap I could sell you on. I eat this way because it makes me feel good. I break out less, have more energy, less brain fog, and many other amazing benefits because my particular body works best with this way of eating. As long as you are truly, (honestly and truly) being real with yourself and listening to your body then you do you and I’ll do me and we can support each other in our chosen lifestyles. Good? Good!
Back to paleo snack options!
I have always been a snacker. And for me, one of the hardest parts of maintaining a paleo lifestyle has been trying to figure out paleo friendly snacks. Most paleo eats require a certain amount of prep. Since this type of eating is more about veggies, fruit, meats, nuts and seeds it’s hard sometimes to eat on-the-go or grab a quick snack. Plain nuts and fruit (although I do love them) can get boring after awhile and you just want something new to spice things up a bit. Most bars and bags of nuts and seeds from the store (even in the nutrition sections) contain non-paleo ingredients. So, when I received an email from Organic Living Superfoods (OLS) asking me to review some of their snacks I was totally on board!
They sent me an array of amazing sprouted nuts, seeds, and dried fruits. I was in heaven!
Not only do they have Paleo options, look at everything else they offer:
I took these little bags of snacks with me everywhere!
To seattle where I enjoyed them walking downtown on the pier why waiting for the Seattle Seahawks first home preseason game of the year.
Downtown Spokane when we went on a mini-adventure with the kids. Basically anytime I left the house I threw one of these bags in my purse.
One of my favorite things about OLS sacks is each bag is a perfect full-size snack. I am terrible at opening a bag and not eating it all, no matter how big. I revert back to my binge eating days and can down it before I even know what happened. But these little bags are filled with just the right amount and I never felt guilty for eating an entire bag in one sitting. (Most bags contain about 1.4 servings and average 90-170 calories.
My absolute favorites from what they sent were the Buffalo Almond & Ranch Cashews, the pizzalmonds, (epic), and the Nothing But The Fruit Mango Slices. You guys. These were sooooo good! I mean, everything they sent was amazing, but these were the best of the best in my humble opinion.
And I want you to try them! Organic Living Superfoods was kind enough to give my readers 20% off their orders! How cool is that?

What are your favorite Paleo friendly (or just healthy) go-to snacks? I’d love to hear!
A small note about my paleo eating habits:
I am not about restricting myself if I want a beer, a donut, or anything else non-paleo. Do I eat or drink those things on a daily basis? No. Am I paleo a large percent of the time? Yes. When I want a non-paleo treat do I let myself indulge? You bet! Life is short and I take no pleasure in being able to say I’m always perfect with my eating. I am in no way shape or form perfect, and my eating isn’t either. Sure, it’s improved a ton over the past few years and I’ve learned what works best for me. If you see me snacking on something not paleo you won’t see guilt on my face. Like I said before, I’ll do me and you do you! Mkay? 😉
