Hello and welcome! I’m Eryn and this blog is my heart spilled out online. My hope is to encourage each woman who visits to feel empowered, in full charge of her health, and organized in, lets face it, an often times very disorganized, hectic life! We all have the ability to be healthy, fit, and run our homes with complete competence! Even as a busy moms, wives, bread winners, stay at home moms, or all of the above. All while maintaining our sanity. It takes trial and error, but it’s possible! Truly!
I’ve been in the health industry long enough to see a pattern emerge that is very familiar to most of us. A new mother is overwhelmed with love and oh so much laundry, feedings, and sleepless nights that she places the needs of her baby and growing family above herself. Which believe me I get! It’s completely natural and often times essential with a young family.
But, we forget to pull ourselves out of this place and end up losing pieces of who we are. What made you “you”. The person your spouse fell in love with, the daughter and friend everyone knew. Suddenly you’re just going through the motions, one day looking in the mirror and wonder how and when you got to this place. Where you no longer recognize the person you’ve become, physically and mentally. I want women to know we can reclaim our health, reclaim our identities, reclaim our sanity. “Healthy happy moms make healthy happy homes” is a reality I stand behind, and I want you to jump on board too!
I started diving into the health scene when my son was born. I’d always been fascinated by the health and fitness world but struggled with my weight and felt completely unqualified. After Tyrion was born though and I had 50 pounds to lose things got serious! I was in my mid twenties and the weight wasn’t falling off by starving and crazy diets like when I was younger. I went into the fitness industry completely scared but also extremely willing to learn with one simple goal: to be truly healthy. I fought my way down to my pre-pregnancy weight, and after Evelyn was born also battled postpartum depression head on. It was then that I discovered the amazingness of foods and how what we place in and on our bodies, every bit of it, affects how we feel, how we function, impacts the very core of who we are. And I was fascinated. My continuous search to grow and learn more was born.
So this blog came to be.
It’s a place I can teach and educate, learn and grow, and help others see and live the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
I know what you’re thinking, “But it’s intimidating Eryn! Where do I start? It all seems like too much, and I don’t want to feel deprived or have to change my whole lifestyle.” I felt the same way! A few months back though, when I was listening to some training, the speaker said something that impacted and shifted the way I thought about this journey. She said “Change first what you feel convicted about most, and then implement changes on the other things. Slowly, over time, until one day you look back and are amazed at how far you’ve come.” Easier said than done? Well how about a little help?

A Few Random Facts About Eryn:
This is my third blog.
My first blog was more a diary of my life. After having kids I realized I didn’t want to share so much personal info on the internet, but instead wanted to shift focus and provide value, not just a rundown of my typical day (boring!). The second blog was called Eryn Whalen Fitness, but I felt fitness in the name limited what I was able to talk about. Eryn Whalen Online allows me to cover a broad variety of health, DIY, organizational, and mommy related topics and not have anyone assume I’m only about workouts and sweaty selfies.
I’ve ran four half marathons and one full.
Enjoy this super grainy cell phone photos of my first ever half marathon. It was June 2014. I went on to run three more halfs that year. The last one being in October, when I was pregnant with Evelyn and didn’t know it yet! Running has filled my cup, helped me drop the baby weight, and proved to myself I can still do and learn new things, all while having a family.
While still pregnant I enrolled for my first full marathon (To be ran eleven months after Evelyn was born, I’m not that crazy!) which was in June 2016. The Rock N’ Roll Marathon in Seattle Washington. It was one of the hardest, yet most rewarding things I’ve ever accomplished. The training, the time, the effort and determination I had to develop to compete and push my body to the limit, it was such a period of growth for me. I proved to myself that I can do anything! Seriously, if I can run a marathon, I can do anything!
I Had My Daughter In My Living-room!
You read that right! I had a planned water birth with the help of three beautiful midwives, my mother, and my husband by my side. It was intense and painful, and also one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever done. After having a healthy boy in the hospital two years prior, I wanted to do things differently. I researched and decided home birthing was for me. I had regular checkups, ultrasounds, blood-work and exams and when it was determined that yes, our daughter was healthy and extremely low risk, we decided to have her at home. And if you’re still concerned, home births have evolved significantly since the eighteen hundreds, I promise you. Plus we are ten minutes from several large hospitals, so were completely safe.
I’m obsessed with stationary, printables, binders and all things organizational.
It’s one of the reasons I have so many free printables available. I simply love to make and use them! I’m an organizational freak always on the lookout for new and better ways to streamline my day, keeping me uber efficient. I’m a pen and paper gal hard core! My office is filled with tons of pretty notebooks and stationary “fluff” empty and ready for my next big idea.
I love home decor, DIY, and gardening. My dream is to live in a whitewashed farmhouse with a big red barn and a tire-swing attached to a large oak tree.
You will see many posts litter this blog not just about health and wellness, but also home decor and gardening, two of my other intense passions. Give me a paint brush, glue, and unlimited spending at Lowe’s and Hobby Lobby and I’d transform any room! It’s fun to take a blank room or spot in the yard and turn it into something that’s you, living and breathing for everyone else to see. I consider my home an oasis, a spot of relaxation and love where we go to escape an often times very unloving and stressful world. If I’m on a date with myself, you’ll find me with a “frilly” (meaning a calorie splurge) coffee in hand wandering the isle of Hobby Lobby gently swaying, contemplating all the things I want to create.
My husband thinks I’m crazy, but I tell him all the time I warned him, and now it’s too late!
Not very long ago when I was having what I like to call a “creative meltdown”, Travis ran his hands through his hair and asked why I wasn’t just normal. Why I didn’t want a regular job (instead of the multiple entrepreneurial pursuits that litter my past) like everyone else. And being “crazy” Eryn, I actually took that as a complement. I’ve never liked doing things the traditional way. Even though I sometimes drive him crazy, Travis has always supported my goals and aspirations, and that makes us the perfect pair. He’s the brains and sound advice, and I’m the crazy passionate person with big ideas. We work well together and I’m blessed to have him by my side.
