MCT oil and it’s amazing benefits
Before we scrape the surface of MCT oil I just wanna say: Hey guys! How’s summer treating you? My gosh it’s flying by fast. I looked at the clock last night when dusk hit and it wasn’t even 9pm yet. I shed a little tear. But, I guess that means fairs, hot cocoa, pumpkin spice, and sweaters are on the horizon. Although it’s not as great as summer, (in my humble opinion) it’s a good compromise so I’ll take it. 😉
With the kids back to school and inevitable change of seasons comes all us mamas trying to get back into a schedule again. Gone with the summertime craziness, we crave a little routine. More specifically, morning routines set the feel for the rest of the day. That’s why I wanted to pop in! To talk about why I think you’d love the benefits of adding MCT oil to your first cup of morning coffee!

Wait. What the heck is MCT oil?
Haven’t heard of it before? You’re not alone. MCT oil is pretty well known in the Keto world, but is still working its way over to the health industry as a whole.
MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides, which are fats that are naturally found in coconut and palm kernel oils. What makes MCT oil so amazing is its weight management* and thermogenic* properties. MCT’s skip right past the lymphatic system and go straight to the liver, where it’s released as energy instead of stored as fat.* What benefits does that give to you? I’m glad you asked! 😉
When used as a substitute for other fats in the diet, potential benefits of MCT oil are:

My favorite way to incorporate it into my diet is my morning coffee. I add a serving to my coffee, along with a scoop of collagen, (I like this brand) a little half and half and blend it up (that’s right, I blend it in a little blender) and it makes for an amazing first cup of coffee that helps me feel full for a few hours before I finally whip up breakfast.

How to start taking it
I suggest adding a teaspoon into your coffee the first few times and working up from there. Sometimes, okay if I’m being honest, most of the time, I’m in a hurry and just add it into my coffee and stir. However, doing it this way does leave the oil mostly at the top of the mug (which I honestly don’t mind) versus blending it where it’s incorporated completely and even gives you a fun little bit of foam on the top.
If you aren’t a fan of it in your coffee by all means try adding it into a protein shake or even using it in your dressing on a salad. There are many great options for making sure you get this powerhouse of a oil into your daily diet! In this fat-fearing world we often don’t get enough of this vital macronutrient. MTC oil is great way to start adding healthy fats back into our diets!
